During a 20+ year career working across Financial Control and FP&A in a range of organisations, I've spent my career at the intersection between finance and technology.
I understand month-end close pressure, management reporting cycles, and board-level financial scrutiny. However, I also know how to write a Python script, build a database-backed pipeline, configure an ERP system, or work with your IT team to eliminate the manual work that eats up finance teams' time.
AI is changing the pace of what finance teams can automate and analyse, and organisations that adapt to these tools now will move substantially ahead of those that don't. That takes someone who can combine understanding of finance and technology to implement the change.
Daniel Austin is a CIMA-qualified finance professional with over 20 years of experience across Financial Control, FP&A, ERP implementation, and finance automation - working at financial services firms in Australia and the UK. His background spans both the accounting and the system sides of finance: he has worked through month-end close, managed reporting cycles, and delivered board reporting. He can also write the code, build the pipeline, or configure the system to make the next cycle faster.
Most recently, Daniel was Finance Transformation Director at an ASX-listed financial services group - a business spanning asset management, investment banking, lending, with an array of businesses having complex financial operating requirements. He built the group's Azure-based finance data platform, delivered a programme of operational automations covering bank data consolidation, journal loading, and close management, and helped the finance function scale as the business grew. Before that, he was Financial Controller at a quantitative trading firm, where he led a NetSuite ERP implementation from business case to go-live in under six months, cut board pack production time from 15 days to 3, and introduced rolling forecasting anchored to the firm's contracts database. Earlier in his career he held finance roles at Macquarie Group, BT Financial Group, and IMC Financial Markets, and was finance lead on an Oracle EBS R12 implementation at the UK subsidiary of a major South African bank.
Daniel works across SQL, Python, VBA, and the Microsoft Azure stack, and has hands-on experience with ERP and financial systems including NetSuite, Oracle EBS R12, Dynamics 365, SAP Concur, and PowerBI. He founded Autransive to give mid-market businesses access to practical, hands-on finance transformation work - the kind of engagement that typically only happens inside large organisations.
