The accounting engineer

"Accounting engineer" is a role the profession is only starting to name - and I'm the one behind Autransive: the person who understands close, reporting cycles, and board-level scrutiny well enough to know exactly where the manual work sits, and who can also write the script, build the pipeline, or configure the system that removes it.

The arrival of AI is creating new opportunities and challenges, especially so in Finance where accuracy must be 100%, and the volume of the data can easily overwhelm even large context models if not properly managed. I work with AI daily, and understand these challenges well, so am well-positioned to help organizations navigate the new landscape.

My deepest experience is in financial services - broking, lending, trading, asset management - but the problems travel to any sector. If you're a CFO or GM Finance watching your finance team outgrow its tooling, that's the gap I work in.

Where the 20 years went.

The practice above draws on two decades of career work in Financial Control, FP&A, and ERP delivery - the foundation, not the headline.

I'm a CIMA-qualified finance professional with over 20 years of experience across Financial Control, FP&A, ERP implementation, and finance automation - working at financial services firms in Australia and the UK. My background spans both the accounting and the systems sides of finance: I've worked through month-end close, managed reporting cycles, and delivered board reporting. I can also write the code, build the pipeline, or configure the system to make the next cycle faster.

Most recently, I was Finance Transformation Director at an ASX-listed financial services group - a business spanning asset management, investment banking, and lending, with an array of businesses having complex financial operating requirements. I built the group's Azure-based finance data platform, delivered a programme of operational automations covering bank data consolidation, journal loading, and close management, and helped the finance function scale as the business grew. Before that, I was Financial Controller at a quantitative trading firm, where I led a NetSuite ERP implementation from business case to go-live in under six months, cut board pack production time from 15 days to 3, and introduced rolling forecasting anchored to the firm's contracts database. Earlier in my career I held finance roles at Macquarie Group, BT Financial Group, and IMC Financial Markets, and was finance lead on an Oracle EBS R12 implementation at the UK subsidiary of a major South African bank.

I work across SQL, Python, VBA, AI, and the Microsoft Azure stack, and have hands-on experience with ERP and financial systems including NetSuite, Oracle EBS R12, Dynamics 365, SAP Concur, and PowerBI. I founded Autransive to bring that same combination - the accounting and the engineering - to finance functions that don't have it in-house, working alongside the CFO or GM Finance who owns the outcome.
